Author Coaching /
Developmental editing
We start with a 60-minute launch call to assess where you’re currently at in the writing process and craft a strategic plan for moving forward. I’ll meet with you bi-weekly on Zoom to review your progress, address any manuscript issues, provide feedback, answer questions, and set goals for the next call. Between calls, I’ll provide developmental editing chapter by chapter to refine organization, ideas, style and tone, and structure. Between calls, I’m available for email support as needed. At the end of 90 days, the goal is a final draft that’s ready for the next stage of editing (line editing).
Ghostwriting
You have a strong message but lack the time or expertise to write your own book. In this case, I offer ghostwriting services to a select number of clients. This is a collaborative process involving Zoom interviews, audio recordings, and transcripts that I will then shape into a cohesive, compelling written book. My goal is to elevate your ideas and write it in your own unique voice.
Book Doctoring
You’ve written a manuscript, but you know it’s not ready for prime time, and you sense it requires more than just some structure and organization. You need a book doctor: someone who goes beyond developmentally editing (telling you what needs to be fixed) to actually does what needs to be fixed for you. As your book doctor, I’ll often rewrite sections or reorganize your material, while making sure the content always reflects you as the author. Again, my goal is to elevate, not replace, your unique voice.
Line Editing
Copyediting
Once you have a complete, edited manuscript, you want to make sure there aren’t any errors. This is where copyediting comes in. Copyediting addresses errors with punctuation, formatting, spelling, and consistency. This is the final round of editing that takes place before your book is formatted.
Proofreading
While the above services are all performed at the manuscript level, proofreading happens after your book has been formatted (what we previously called typeset). This is the polishing phase. The proofreader looks for any typos, missing words, duplicate words, incorrect line breaks, missing or incorrect running heads. We also check to make sure the page numbers on the table of contents are correct and the chapter titles match the chapter opener pages. Once your book interior has been proofread and the corrections have been made, it’s ready for the printer of your choice!
